Born in 1954 in Azemmour, Abdellah Dibaji is a prominent figure of contemporary Moroccan painting. He graduated from the \u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts of T\u00e9touan in 1976, then continued his artistic training at the \u00c9cole Sup\u00e9rieure des Arts of Li\u00e8ge, where he received a second diploma in 1979. Based in El Jadida, he worked as an art teacher and later as an inspector of artistic education while developing a prolific artistic career.<\/p>\n
Dibaji\u2019s visual universe is strongly rooted in the urban landscape. Ancient doors, winding streets, textured walls and, above all, the omnipresent human crowd form the core of his thematic vocabulary. These elements go beyond representation: they reflect his interest in space, collective memory and the traces of human presence.<\/p>\n
His work is distinguished by a rich and layered chromatic palette. Each painting begins with a bluish-grey underlayer\u2014sometimes light, sometimes dark\u2014onto which the artist gradually softens transitions between colors. Through these dense and subtle overlays, Dibaji creates atmospheric compositions marked by both luminosity and opacity, enhanced by a precise and sensitive graphic line.<\/p>\n
Since 1981, Abdellah Dibaji has exhibited widely in Morocco and abroad. In 1998, he was an artist-in-residence at the Cit\u00e9 Internationale des Arts in Paris, an experience that deeply enriched his artistic approach.
