Born in 1954 in Fez, Morocco, Mohamed Krich received his academic training at the School of Applied Arts in Casablanca, where he developed the solid technical foundation that continues to underpin his work. From the outset, he cultivated a strong interest in observing reality — landscapes, everyday scenes, figures, and still lifes — a practice that became central to his artistic approach.
A master of refined pictorial technique, Krich possesses an in-depth knowledge of the alchemy of color. He prepares his own pigments, binders, and mediums, giving his paintings a rich, supple, and luminous materiality. His figurative style oscillates between realism and impressionism, distinguished by subtle chiaroscuro, fluid brushwork, and a keen sensitivity to light. His Moroccan landscapes and scenes capture atmospheres and emotions with an almost illusionistic finesse, while his still lifes — often inspired by traditional Moroccan craftsmanship — reveal a delicate attention to texture, form, and reflection.
Widely recognized, Mohamed Krich has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions across Morocco, including in Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, and Fez. His work has also been exhibited internationally, notably in Canada, the United States, and Saudi Arabia. Today, his paintings form part of private collections around the world.
Alongside his figurative work, Krich has been developing an unpublished body of abstract research. This new direction, like his figurative practice, reflects his ongoing effort to reinterpret the Arab-Muslim memory through a sensitive and poetic lens. His paintings become fragments of a dreamed past — evoking a Morocco that resurfaces through light, matter, and emotion.
