Mohamed Mourabiti
- Morocco - Born : 1968 in Marrakech
Mohamed Mourabiti is a self-taught Moroccan painter who has devoted himself entirely to art since his youth. After training in electronics and beginning a professional career in Casablanca, he chose to follow an irresistible calling: painting.
His work, marked by abstraction, is rooted in mixed-media techniques that combine painting, collage, drawing, and sculpture. Grounded in tradition, spirituality, and collective memory, his practice incorporates raw materials such as clay and tar, a mineral palette, and powerful symbols—particularly feminine forms and graphic parables—through which he explores identity, trace, and the vulnerability of the world.
A major figure on the contemporary Moroccan art scene, Mohamed Mourabiti is the founder of Al Maqam, an artistic space located in Tahannaout, near Marrakech. A true place of creation and conviviality, this space brings together artists, writers, and art enthusiasts around a spirit of sharing and dialogue.
Internationally recognized, he has exhibited in Morocco and abroad, notably in France, England, Jordan, Bahrain, and Brazil. His works are held in numerous prestigious public and private collections in Morocco, Europe, the United States, and South America. He is today considered one of the leading figures of contemporary Moroccan painting.
