TALEB Rachid
- Morocco - Born : 1972 in Rabat
Rachid Taleb is a Moroccan painter born in 1972 in Rabat. From an early age, he showed a deep interest in drawing and visual expression, which naturally led him to pursue art studies. He obtained a baccalaureate in Fine Arts in Meknès in 1992, followed by a diploma from the Regional Pedagogical Center (CPR) in Rabat in 1995. Alongside his artistic practice, he has worked for many years as a teacher of visual and applied arts in the city of Safi, where he actively contributes to the artistic education of younger generations.
Taleb’s artistic language lies at the crossroads of figuration and abstraction. Rich in cultural memory, particularly of Amazigh (Berber) heritage, his paintings evoke traditional Moroccan aesthetics while adopting a contemporary visual vocabulary. His canvases often feature suspended shapes, draped forms, and multicolored threads reminiscent of weaving, textiles, and ceremonial attire. Through a balance of structure and spontaneity, his work creates a poetic visual rhythm that bridges ancestral memory and modern expression.
Throughout his career, Rachid Taleb has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Morocco, including in Meknès, Safi, Casablanca, Agadir, Essaouira, Tangier, and Marrakech. His work has been shown in a variety of cultural contexts, such as the Gnaoua World Music Festival in Essaouira and the Marrakech Cultural Festival.
Through an intuitive and liberated aesthetic, Rachid Taleb explores form, rhythm, and materiality, crafting a vibrant, contemplative body of work that reflects a singular perspective on the world.
