Yasser Jmil
- Morocco - Born : 1974 à Talssint
Yasser Aarafat Jmil is a self-taught and passionate artist, driven by an insatiable curiosity and an unrelenting desire to learn. His artistic journey began through a tireless reading of specialized art magazines, from which he absorbed drawings and paintings that sparked his imagination. Since an early age, he has continuously sought to master new techniques and explore fresh artistic approaches, guided by encounters with artists, mentors, and fellow enthusiasts.
Initiated into several disciplines — including calligraphy, screen printing, and photography — he refined his practice at the Karima Institute for the Arts in Rabat. Later, he trained in stained glass art alongside Iraqi artist Abdelmounaïm Boussedra, through whom he discovered the rich diversity of Arabic calligraphy styles and the precision of the artistic gesture.
A decisive moment in his journey came with his meeting with artist Hassan Souab, a native of Oujda and graduate of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tétouan. From this encounter grew an artistic connection rooted in transmission and shared vision. Hassan Souab imparted to him the subtleties of painting, color, and composition — shaping the maturity and distinctiveness of Yasser Aarafat Jmil’s artistic gaze.
