ZIDOR Cheikh
- Morocco - Born : 1976 in Fez
Cheikh Zidor, a graduate of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tétouan, is a Moroccan abstract painter whose work is distinguished by great sensitivity and a refined aesthetic pursuit. After completing his studies, he drew inspiration from the spirituality and atmosphere of the medina of Fez, perceptible in the chromatic palette and the nostalgic harmony of his compositions, where light and abstract forms engage in dialogue to evoke inner memory and transcendent emotions.
Exploring pure abstraction with mastery, he works with oil, acrylic, and at times other materials to create artworks in which the spontaneity of gesture is combined with a contemplative depth. His artistic approach is grounded in prolonged introspection, giving rise to canvases that invite calm and meditation.
Through his singular visual language, Cheikh Zidor today occupies a distinct place in contemporary Moroccan art, at the crossroads of spirituality, cultural memory, and expressive abstraction. His work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Morocco and internationally. His paintings have also appeared in recognized auction sales, where his abstract compositions—playing with light and the subtleties of chiaroscuro—are meeting with growing recognition among collectors.
